Connection Groups at First Baptist

Life is not meant to be lived alone. In fact, God hates loneliness. You were created to experience life with other people, which is why we encourage you to get into a small group. A connection group is a group of three or more people who gather each week in a home, workplace, or online. In a group you’ll hang out, study the Word, and pray together.

Groups come in all shapes and sizes — married couples, singles, men, women, kids, no kids, workplace, under 20, over 40 — the list goes on. No matter where you are in life, there’s a group for you. Ready to dive in?

Community Connection Groups

These groups take place each week and replace the traditional Sunday evening service format. While some may meet (even on the church campus) at 6:00 on Sunday evenings, many of them offer more flexibility such as varying weekly meeting times, home-based studies and more.

  • Elevation Singles // connect

Young adult singles looking to grow together in the Lord, find direction for their lives, and make friendships that last a lifetime will find a place in this dynamic group. Elevation is led by Ed and Roberta Buchanan and meets weekly on Sunday evenings at 6:00 in room 4212 on the church campus. Additionally, on Monday evenings and other select dates, they meet to play volleyball, eat great food and fellowship together.

  • blast teens // connect

This group gives teens a platform and voice by getting together for a spiritual conversation to have dialogue about issues they face today. This group is led by Webster and Anna Rhodes and meets in the Student Life Center on campus every Sunday evening at 6.

  • Abundant life // connect

For all individuals that want to come together and learn to have life more abundantly. We will take books of the Bible and break them down for discussion. This study is led by Terry and Jody Dye and meets in their home.

  • bible connect // connect

This group is for all adults and breaks down various books and chapters of the Bible in a verse-by-verse study. If you're looking to delve into an expository study of God's Word, this class is for you. The group meets in room 4208 on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and is led by Jeff and Karen Rhodes.

  • watchmen // connect

Led by Mark Strobel, this group is a men's Bible study that focuses on the integrity and character needed within godly men. Be prepared to bring questions, notes and study to this group of men who wish to grow together in the Lord.

  • l'chaim messianic fellowship // connect

The L’Chaim Messianic fellowship meets in the StudentLife Center every Friday evening at 7. Our fellowship is led by a child of a Holocaust survivor and the Bible is taught from a Jewish perspective. We celebrate all of the feasts of Israel and lift up Jesus the Messiah. We have great music, refreshments and fellowship.

  • s.o.s. motorycycle club // connect

Our motorcycle club has members from all over the county, and they have a mission: To enjoy the beautiful Florida weather, while giving praise and glory to God and impacting others with the gospel. S.O.S. (Servants of the Savior) meets regularly for rides, outreaches and other activities. If you have a bike and love to ride, these are your people.
